Not much ranting this month since I am drowning in truckloads of field assignments, projects, presentations and tests. Oh wait....that was a rant which I just made. XD
Anyway, Chinese New Year begins tomorrow. Not going back to my hometown since I wanted a quiet Chinese New Year this year. During previous years, it was going from one relative's house to another. And to top that off, the weather is scorching hot around that time.
Attended a friend's wedding dinner on the 18th of January 2004. Hahaha!!!! He's the first among our close-knit group of friends to get married. I wonder who will be the next to get married after him. That is sure to be an interesting bet.
Fell ill two weeks ago week. I was down with viral flu. That sucked. Out of 24 hours on Monday, I believe I slept almost 20 hours. The remaining 4 hours was used up for bathroom visits and also to complete an assignment that was due on Wednesday that week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner for that whole week was only bread and instant noodles.
Ever turned down an invitation by a beautiful lady for a dance? I just did. REGRETS!!!! REGRETS!!!! Didn't see her face actually since I was at the men's when the invitation was given which was then passed on to me by her friend (that was when I turned the invitation down). But my friend told me she was pretty. ~ Sigh

OK...the last two papers of my Finals kinda suck, but that's all in the past. How's everyone doing? Fine I hope.
It's the first anniversary of OTAKUWORKS today. Nothing fancy actually other than one simple announcement. Boring, ain't I?
We are finally out of the era where the anime scene is characterized by animes such as Scrapped Princess, Stellvia of the Universe, Get Backers, and Onegai Twins (pardon my lousy choice of titles). Now, we have Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Planetes, Fullmetal Alchemist, Read or Die TV, Tsukihime, Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~, Gunslinger Girls and many more. What other animes are there in store for us in the future? Ever wonder about that?
Currently on a long semester break and I have been catching up a lot on animes lately. As at today's update, I have watched Kare Kano (26 episodes), Patlabor (52 episodes), Narutaru (13 episodes), Popotan (13 episodes), Stellvia of the Universe (26 episodes), Onegai Twins (12 episodes), Tenshi no Shippo Chu (10 episodes), Tokyo Underground (26 episodes), One OAV (4 episodes), Inuyasha Movie 2: Castle Beyond the Looking Glass (1...it's a movie!!!!), and DNAngel (26 episodes). In addition to that, it's supplemented by anime episodes which are watched as soon as it is downloaded like PlanetES, Maburaho, Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~, RoD TV, Green Green, Ikkitousen, Sakigake! Cromartie Koukou, and Happy Lesson Advance. Narutaru and Popotan are two really screwed up animes and One OAV sucked big time. Kare Kano at the end was like....."what?" Stellvia ain't as bad as the general sentiment described, and same goes for DNAngel (I didn't read the manga.....).

What should I say...this semester has been kind of kind to me. My carry marks for several subjects have been satisfactory, some even a few points away from the full marks. I guess I can worry less about scoring decent grades and concentrate more on scoring kick-ass grades this time...I hope.
Participated in the MICPA Accounting Quiz 2003 last Friday. That was my first participation as well as representation of my university in such a major event after a long while and I was a nervous wreck. Furthermore, the fact that it rained early that morning didn't help as the venue where the quiz was held was a freezing hell. Even worse, I was in Team A (3 members per team), meaning that I am to participate in the first round. Each team had a table on the stage and the quizmaster were to ask each person one question. Anyway, everything went smoothly after that. I was able to answer most of the questions but the best part was definitely the it comes to the General Knowledge category. I was on a roll. Thank you National Geographic!!! Thank you Discovery Channel!!! Thank you to Newsweek!!! Too bad the marks I scored wasn't enough to give my team the top three placing but it was anough to land me the Best Individual Performance Award.
A funny thing occurred to me during that event. As it was freezing in that place, I couldn't stop myself from sitting still. Furthermore, as the quiz questions started to enter the General Knowledge category, I couldn't helped myself but to get excited. What I didn't noticed was that the two left legs of my chair was right at the edge of the stage I was on. At some point, while the quizmaster was asking one of the participating teams a question, I shifted my body a little and all of a sudden, my whole world tilted. I actually felled of the stage from my chair and landed right on top of another chair at the bottom. Wasn't exactly embarassing despite being watched by participants from other universities as well as their lecturers, but it really calmed me down as well as took my mind off the freezing condition of the place. I guess I will now be forever known as "the guy who fell off the stage" in the future. Hahahaha!!!!!
With the coming of the Finals, there must always be a semester break. This time, my break will be one and a half months long. LUCKY!!! I have been stockpiling on animes for quite some time and it should last me for the whole break. Furthermore, there's animes to leech off IRC. Whee!!!!!!!
Okay...I should stop talking too much now or I'll hurt myself. Hope to tell more stories to you all on my next update...whenever that will be. ^_^

Okay...first it's a worm. Now, a virus. Is there no end to the annoyances that we normal average (and innocent too!)internet users are subjected to by some idiot at the end of the other line? So you want to prove yourself on the Net. But that doesn't mean that you can just go writing some code that duplicates itself and adds to someone's misery. Have a heart. Be considerate. Think about other people.
Finally my Rurouni Kenshin collection have come to an end. With the conclusion of the Kenshin manga at 28 volumes, I can now concentrate on other titles namely, Get Backers and Ranma 1/2. I am tempted to start on Flame of Recca manga but decided not to due to the fact the manga has just been released last month and I will be graduating in a few more months. I doubt I can put in so much commitment once I enter the job market.
I am planning to get my own webspace soon. Haven't yet decided on when I will be getting it but I definitely will sooner or later. Maybe then I can put up 1600 resolution wallpapers for those who have 1600x1200 res desktops.
Currently following Scrapped Princess and Happy Lesson Advance. At the same time, I am also engrossed in Praetorians, a game by Pyro Studios. Not bad. It's a mix of Myth and Battle Realms. With no resource management to take up your attention, it's strategizing and killing all the way!!! I especially like the strategizing part. Reconnaisance and battlefield intelligence plays an important part in ensuring Roman victory. Now...BACK TO KILLING!!!! XD

If there's one thing that I want to rant about this month, it is that I am sick of tests, presentations, assignments, and projects. Have been going through tests and assignments for the past three or four weeks and I will be having more for the next four to six seeks to come. AND IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE FINALS YET!!! What a life....bleh...
And on a side note, I had a small private birthday (my birthday) celebration with my family last week. Nothing much....just a cake and a few red eggs. Received a miniature Asuka Soryu Langley (NGE) present from a friend too. Thanx!!!

And so we meet again. As promised, I have put up three cute walls from .Hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu, Sakura Wars, and Azumanga Daioh respectively. Hope you all like it. ^_^

The holidays have just concluded two weeks ago and a new semester begins for me here in university. Taking 6 subjects, and 5 out of them are heavy subjects. Having some crappy lecturers this semester as well as strict ones. Expecting a hectic semester this year but also expecting to survive as always. I'm a die-hard guy, you know.
Brain is in a state of mush due to overdose of animes. In three weeks, I managed to finish off Magic Knight Rayearth season 1 and 2 (finally bought the actual DVD set, 49 episodes all), The Adventures of Mini-Goddess (26 episodes), Groove Adventure Rave box 1 (13 episodes), .Hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu, Gunparade March, Haibane Renmei (13 episodes), Hanaukyo Maids Tai (15 episodes), Kiddy Grade (24 episodes), Happy Lesson (13 episodes), Kite (movie), Onegai Teacher (12 episodes & 1 OVA), Saiyuki season 1 (26 episodes), Hellsing (13 episodes), Noir (26 episodes), and Raimuiro Senkitan (13 episodes).
Finally got broadband installed at home. Managed to get some episodes through Bittorrent. WHEE!!!!!! But then, I'm now staying in my uni campus. So, no Bittorrent downloads due to firewall. BOO!!!!!
Bought a 6 inches high miniature figure from an anime store last Friday. It is Seras (Ceras?) Victoria from the Hellsing anime. Purchased it together with a Sorcerous Stabber Orphen while on a club activity that happened to be near the store. Got left behind by the bus by accident too but a friend who had a car picked me up later. I guess the trip was still worth it after what I went through. At least I managed to get something for myself.
The weather has been quite cool lately due to heavy showers during the late afternoons. It is a relief to be having rain after suffering from the intense heat for the past few months due to forest fires in a neighbouring country. The only problem would be that the rain always fall at the most inconvenient of times.
The Hulk is showing in theatres already. Not planning to watch it yet until I hear comments on the movie from friends. Not having high expectations since I did not like what I saw on the movie trailers.

As I have stated in the main page, this month's updates are a bit special since there's a common theme to the three wallpapers that I have put up for this month. The stars of this month's update are GOTT's ES Agent, Eclair from Kiddy Grade, the era-travelling Higuraishi Kagome from Inuyasha, and the Whispered lady, Chidori Kaname of Full Metal Panic! fame.
Hmm...I don't really have anything to rant about this month. Anyway, I'll just pen down whatever I think I have experienced this month.

Firstly, this site has gone past its first 1000 hits marker. Thank you to all of those who have taken the time and pain (ain't ads always a pain) to drop by here. Thanks also to fellow wallers, Nat (Ningen.tk), Iclun (Wintersea), Sayumi (Celestial Sea Designs), Angel Icon (Risu), Nanie (©N@nie) and Nails (otaku.jp) for putting links to my site.
Now for news from the manga and anime scene. For those who liked Aoi Yori Aoshi...yes a sequel is said to air this fall. Nah it's not a joke.
And for clamp fans, they are serializing some sort of quasi sequel to what has been arguably their most popular title: Cardcaptor Sakura. The new manga is called ' Wing '. As to what extend is a sequel remains to be seen. Leading roles were switched and it will most likely have little to do with the clow/sakura arcs in CCS. But clamp is known for mixing manga universes so some elements of the parent series may be retained. The characters do look like the ones you find in the last chapter of the manga which is an unkown amount of years after the end of the second arc in the series. Hei Li has pilot goggles now.
Haven't been making much wallpapers lately. Currently not in a rush to do so since I have next month's wallpapers ready and also due to the lack of inspiration lately. My fingers are also hurting this past month due to too many clicks on the mouse. Bleh...I should not have played so many rounds of Minesweeper.
Have been eyeing a new scanner lately. Still undecided on whether to buy it or not since I am one miserly character (except when it comes to buying animes though).
On a happy note, congratulations to Applegal, the webmistress of the site Paperdelights on her successful application to take up Law in one of Malaysia's top universities (University of Malaysia, UM). Entrance registration will begin sometime this Saturday or Sunday. So, best of luck. ^_^

Welcome!!! Welcome!!! I'd like to introduce you to Aoi Sakuraba from Ai Yori Aoshi, Kamui from X, and Yuu Inagawa & Eimi Ohba from Comic Party. It's also my first time using a dark themed anime for my wall. Yes, I'm referring to X and fleshing out a suitable background for it was time-consuming.
Hope you all like my new layout. Nothing impressive but at least it is an improvement over the previous layout. What prompted me to make this design? Boredom. I had no class on Monday, so I decided to give this site layout another shot. And I also did mentioned that I will slowly make improvements one at a time as I learn something new. So, here it is.
Animes galore throughout the recent two-week semester break as well as right up until today's update. Watched .Hack//SIGN, Scryed, Full Metal Panic!, Serial Experiments Lain, Pretear, first season of Magic Knight Rayearth, first season of Maromatic, I My Me! Strawberry Eggs (Episode 1 until 13 only, which I believe is to be the first season. Could someone help me clarify the number of episodes for this anime? Arigatou gozaimasu ^_^ ), Gravion (also the first season only), Read or Die OVA, and Tenchi Muyo! TV Series. Rewatched Ah! My Goddess, Neon Genesis Evangelion, End of Evangelion, and Vision of Escaflowne. This totals up to 101 hours and 2 minutes. And I'm also watching Groove Adventure Rave on AXN (sporadic episodes only though since I only go home once a week). I love it so much especially the humor and also the characters. Haru's expressions are priceless and Elie's...what can I say, she's one kick-ass babe. Oh...and Rurouni Kenshin is being aired on AXN too.
Got my hands on a Neon Genesis Evangelion Rei Ayanami Scheduled Official Graphics Library (basically something like an artbook) as well as Inuyasha DVD Box 4 and 5. RM 300 in cold hard cash all gone in just one night.

March 20, 2003
Yes, three brand spanking new wallpapers, with a whole new different kick-ass background style. They are Shuugo Kunisaki from .Hack//Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu, Milfeulle & Mint from Galaxy Angel, and Takase Mizuki from Comic Party. Be prepared for a whole new era of walling. I'm on a roll here.
Semester exams are finally over and I can now go back to what I always loved to do, lazing around doing nothing. Lots of animes to watch during the two-week semester holiday. Chobits, .Hack//SIGN, Serial Experiments Lain, Full Metal Panic, Mahoromatic, Noir, I My Me! Strawberry Eggs, Cowboy Bebop, Scryed, Noir, Read or Die, and Magic Knights Rayearth just to name a few. It's going to be an anime fest and I can't wait to get started. ^_^
I'd also like to change my earlier perception of Juuni Kokki. It is so unlike Fushigi Yuugi. Maybe a bit of similarities can be found but it's all on the surface. It's way better than Fushigi Yuugi. The concept is also original, kind of. Plot development is interesting enough to keep you glued to the screen and the animation is crisp and serious. None of those "big-eyed" characters that we all are so used to.
Not much to rant about this month as Finals began since the beginning of the month, leaving me with little time to explore what stupid situations I can get myself into. Oh...and remember to drop by the latest forum to emerge in the anime community, Project Zen (PZ). Lot's of interesting people there and also a large gallery scan to boot. If you're looking for a place to chill out or want to look for resources for your walls, PZ is the place to be. Just remember that you must be a member to see the full scans though.
